Sculptural Double-Sided Artwork:
This collection has a life of it's own.
It gained form over time in a notebook which contemplated fear, horror and peace in presence with these things. No work was ever quite finished. The artist found herself returning continuously to each in order to bestow another layer of life unto them. With each form she surrendered to the paper, she became convinced, more deeply, of the formless.
When the time came for them to graduate into the light of day, their true origins of being birthed secretly, privately in a notebook was apparent: each page contains a piece of art on either side. So in unity exists duality: the private becomes public, the humble is grand and the formless has form. The two-dimensional becomes rich with depth and meaning.
These works seem difficult to hang, but alas in complexity, too, is simplicity: a piece hung against a wall becomes reversible for variation. Or a frame stood upon a flat surface gains it's sculptural status, and becomes a statement:
"I have nothing to hide" it says, "look. I am naked. View me from all angles."
